The 2024 Read-A-Thon is here!

This is Woodfield’s biggest fundraiser – raising over $13,000 in 2023 without students having to sell anything!

This year the Read-A-Thon will run from November 11 -22, 2024. Our event lead for this event is PTA Member Katie Donovan.

What is a Read-A-Thon?

A Read-A-Thon is a fun, educational fundraiser where students read books and gather sponsors to support their efforts. The goal is to encourage a love of reading while raising funds for school activities, programs, or resources. Students track their reading minutes, and sponsors can pledge a donation per minute read or a flat amount to support the student’s reading journey.  It’s a great way to promote literacy and school spirit, all while contributing to important initiatives for the school community!

Please ensure your student RETURNS THE RECORDING SHEET TO SCHOOL EACH DAY IN THEIR BLUE FOLDER.

How can sponsors make donations?

Sponsors can go to our pledge site or use this QR code and make online donations supporting your student.

Here is a Sample Statement you can send to potential sponsors:  I am participating in a Read-A-Thon at Woodfield Elementary School from November 11 through November 22.   All the money raised will directly benefit Woodfield students to fund family fun events, assemblies, the science fair and much more! There’s nothing to buy; just family and friends encouraging us to read!

Will you please sponsor me by making a pledge? You can pledge any amount per minute I read or a flat rate pledge if I meet my goal. Thank you for your support!

Woodfield PTA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so your generous donations may be tax-deductible.

Are there Prizes?

Yes, there are exciting prizes for our Read-A-Thon! Students have a chance to win rewards for reaching different reading and fundraising milestones, and top readers will receive special recognition. Prizes include a variety of fun items like school gear, a Crumbl Cookie Party for the class with the most reading minutes, and even a place on our new Eagle Reader Hall of Fame  Trophy, which will hold names of our top readers for years to come. And if the school as a whole reads 75,000 minutes, they will get to slime Principal Houston!

NEW this year – for every 100 minutes read, the student will entered into a raffle for a mystery prize!!!

Each prize is designed to celebrate students’ dedication and make reading even more rewarding! See this prize sheet to learn more!

What is Double Minutes Night?

On November 18, 2024 from 6:30pm to 7:45pm, students can earn DOUBLE MINUTES for any time spent reading or participating in a scavenger hunt at the Damascus Library! Principal Houston will be on hand reading a book to our Eagles. If you can’t make it, do not worry.
